If you’ve noticed that the screensaver is no longer built into the Pixo TV app, don’t worry—this change is intentional.
Recent Roku platform requirements require screensavers to be distributed as standalone applications rather than as features embedded within streaming channels or games. Because of this, the Pixo TV Screensaver is now available as its own free Roku channel.
This change allows the screensaver to launch automatically after your Roku has been idle for the amount of time you’ve selected, just like any other Roku screensaver.
Do I need to install another app?
Yes. For the best Pixo TV experience, install both:
- Pixo TV – Browse, search, bookmark, and favorite your photos.
- Pixo TV Screensaver – Automatically displays your favorite photos whenever your Roku becomes idle.
The two apps are designed to work together. You use the Pixo TV app to discover and organize your photos, while the Pixo TV Screensaver automatically transforms your TV into a beautiful slideshow whenever you’re not actively using your Roku.
How do I enable the new screensaver?
After installing Pixo TV Screensaver:
- Open Settings on your Roku device.
- Go to Theme > Screensavers.
- Select Pixo TV Screensaver as your default screensaver.
- Set your Screensaver Start Time to 1 minute (recommended).
Once configured, your favorite Pixo TV photos will automatically begin displaying whenever your Roku is idle.
Will I lose my favorites or settings?
No. Your Pixo TV account, favorites, bookmarks, and preferences continue to work with the new Pixo TV Screensaver, so you can pick up right where you left off.
